Scientists from all around the world seem to be gaining a consensus on the view that exposure to Bisphenol-A (BPA) – a chemical often found in plastic bottles and containers – could be damaging to the health of babies and pregnant women. In an open letter to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), a group of 60 scientists from 15 countries said they feared exposure to this chemical posed a number of health risks and called for action in reducing the exposure to BPA in everyday products.

We all know some of the key benefits of eating more vegetables, ranging from reduced heart and cancer risks to being better for your bank balance! But results of a pilot study showed that people who adopted a vegetarian diet for just five days showed a drop in levels of toxic chemicals, such as phthalates, in their bodies. The key message here is that everyone can reduce their exposure to potentially damaging chemicals by making a few lifestyle choices.
